'WHEN I SAW HIM BAT, I REALISED THAT HE WOULD...' : BOLLYWOOD ACTOR RECALLS PLAYING AGAINST VIRAT KOHLI AT JUNIOR LEVEL

Bollywood actor Saqib Saleem revealed that he had played against former India captain Virat Kohli during his early cricketing days. Saleem who used to play for the Kashmir Under-19 cricket team revealed that he had played against Virat Kohli's New Delhi. Kohli is currently in Sri Lanka where he will feature in Rohit Sharma's ODI series against Sri Lanka scheduled to start from August 2.

During a YouTube Podcast hosted by Shubhankar Mishra, Saleem went into a nostalgic ride remembering his youth cricket days.

“When I used to play U-19 from Kashmir, he was playing against Delhi. So we played a game against each other and when I saw him bat, I realized that he would play for India one day. I don’t know about senior cricket, but in junior cricket in the U-16 and U-19 categories the first time I saw Virat bat in a club-level tournament”  Saqib said.

Kohli has announced his retirement from T20Is after India won the T20 World Cup 2024. The star batter will now feature in the ODIs and Tests for India. He will now be seen in action in a 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.

“A 15-year-old Virat Kohli back then hit all the bowlers around the park and he was not hitting small sixes he was hitting them big, almost out of the school. So at that point, I realized that he is a different type of talent” added the 36-year-old actor.
