A MINECRAFT MOVIE STARRING AQUAMAN ACTOR JASON MOMOA GETS FIRST TRAILER

A Minecraft movie, or to put it more correctly, the first Minecraft live-action movie has got its first teaser trailer. Titled just ‘A Minecraft Movie’, the upcoming film stars Aquaman and Game of Thrones actor Jason Momoa as Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison, Emma Myers as Natalie, Academy Award nominee Danielle Brooks as Dawn, Sebastian Eugene Hansen as Henry and Jack Black as Steve.

A Minecraft Movie is directed by Academy Award nominee Jared Hess, best known for directing Napoleon Dynamite (2004), Nacho Libre (2006) and Gentlemen Broncos (2009). Jared co-wrote the three films with Jerusha Hess, his wife who's also a filmmaker.

A Minecraft Movie plot: Four misfits partner with an expert crafter

As per the official synopsis of A Minecraft Movie, four misfits—Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison, Henry, Natalie and Dawn– are transported through a portal into a cubic world called the Overworld that “thrives on imagination”. They wish to go back to their own world but to do so, they’ll need to master the Overworld and protect it from Piglins, Zombies and other threats.

In the Overworld, they meet an expert crafter named Steve. The misfits team up with Steve for a magical adventure. They will have to be “bold” and must “reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative…the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world”.

A Minecraft Movie is “the first ever big screen, live-action adaptation of Minecraft”.

A Minecraft Movie will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures worldwide and by Legendary East in China. A Minecraft Movie is coming to theatres outside the US on April 2, 2025, and in the US on April 4. It will also launch on IMAX.

Outside of gaming, there is more Minecraft entertainment content in the pipeline. Minecraft developer Mojang announced in May that it had partnered with Netflix for an animated Minecraft series.
