Things to keep in mind

  • Varies by video length: Processing times can differ based on the length and complexity of your video.
  • No other edits: You cannot make additional edits while the video is processing.
  • Channel limitations: Channels not in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) may face restrictions on saving changes if the video has over 100,000 views.
  • Revert to original: If you need to undo your edits, go to the Editor in YouTube Studio and select Revert to original.
Steps to follow

Sign in to YouTube Studio

  • Log in to your YouTube Studio account.
  • Navigate to the left menu and select Content.
  • Filter by Copyright: Click the filter bar and then select Copyright.
  • Find and review the claimed video
  • Locate your video: Find the video with the Content ID claim.
  • Review claim details: In the Restrictions column, hover over Copyright and click SEE DETAILS.
  • Identify the claim: Under the Content identified in this video section, find the relevant claim.
Erase the Song

  • Select Actions: Click SELECT ACTIONS and choose Mute song.
  • Choose Muting Option:
  • Erase song: Mutes only the claimed song while keeping other audio intact.
  • Mute all sound: Mutes all audio in the claimed segments.
  • Edit the time frame (optional): Adjust the start and end times of the audio mute as needed.
  • Preview the edit: Ensure the changes are as desired in the video player.
  • Confirm and Process: Click CONTINUE and then MUTE. The edit will begin processing.

Trim out segment

  • Trim the segment: Edit the specific segment containing the claimed content.
  • Adjust the timings: Edit the start and end times of the section you're removing.
  • Confirm the edit: Click CONTINUE and then TRIM.
  • Replace song
Choose a new track: Replace the claimed audio with a song from the YouTube Audio Library.

Adjust the audio: Drag and drop the new audio track in the editor.

Confirm the changes: Click SAVE and then REPLACE.
