Actress Geetika Mehandru, known for her powerful performances in blockbuster films like Kabir Singh, Jersey, and a string of successful television and OTT projects, is officially quitting her current television show after just 45 days on set. The actress, who has always stood out for her commitment and authenticity, has decided to part ways after experiencing what she describes as disrespect, broken promises, and utter negligence by the team.
Geetika was brought on board with the assurance that she would be playing a significant and prominent character—a role that would not only have screen presence but narrative depth. “When I signed this project, I was promised a big character—something substantial and impactful. But what I’ve experienced over the last month and a half is the exact opposite. I kept waiting, hoping the story would pick up for my character, but it didn’t. I was left in the background while others were pushed forward,” Geetika shared candidly.
Beyond the professional letdown, it was the way she was treated by the team that truly forced her to make this difficult decision. “I wasn’t expecting red carpets every day, but basic human courtesy? Yes. Sadly, that was missing. The way the team treated me—it felt like they had no value for my time, talent, or presence. They’d say one thing, shoot another, and when you tried to ask for clarity, you’d be met with silence or vague reassurances that led nowhere,” she added.
One incident, in particular, pushed her over the edge—a moment that highlights both the emotional and physical neglect she faced on set. “During a Navratri segment, I got a current while filming. It was sudden, painful, and quite honestly, frightening. But what shocked me the most was that not one person from the team came up to me afterward. No one asked if I was okay, if I needed medical attention, or even just a glass of water. It was like I didn’t exist,” she said.
Geetika’s departure isn’t about screen time alone—it’s about the lack of respect, dignity, and sincerity in the work environment. “I am not here to just increase my bank balance. I’ve worked hard to reach where I am, and I want my craft to be seen, to be valued. I come with passion, with discipline, with the hunger to perform. But if that’s going to be ignored and I’m just a prop on screen, then I’d rather step away with grace,” she asserted.
