AAMIR KHAN EXPERIMENTED WITH DRINKING FOR RAJA HINDUSTANI SONG; WASN’T HAPPY WITH IT: ARCHANA PURAN SINGH

Archana Puran Singh, who worked alongside Aamir Khan in the 1996 film Raja Hindustani, recently confirmed that the actor "experimented" with drinking to portray his character's drunked state convincingly while filming the song 'Tere Ishq Main Nachenge'. Archana shared that while Aamir tried drinking to make his performance more authentic, he wasn’t entirely satisfied with the outcome.

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Archana was asked if Aamir was genuinely drunk during the song’s shoot. She responded, "I have heard this. His room was right next to mine when we were shooting. He didn’t drink in front of me, but I believe he experimented with it. However, he wasn’t happy with his experiment."

Reflecting on the film, Archana also called it special as it earned her a Filmfare nomination for Best Supporting Actress. She shared, "I was so happy about this film because I was nominated for the Filmfare Awards for my role. It was the first and only time I was nominated, although I didn’t win any awards. Parmeet came to me and said, ‘A nomination is as good as winning an award.’ I realized I wasn’t getting the award, but it still felt rewarding."

Raja Hindustani revolved around a small-town cab driver who falls in love with a wealthy woman, with the story exploring how the couple overcomes class differences to be together. The film starred Karisma Kapoor in the lead role alongside Aamir. Mohnish Bahl, Suresh Oberoi, Johnny Lever, Kunal Kemmu were also a part of the film's cast. Archana had a negative role in the film as she played Karisma's step mother who plans to create a wedge between the daughter and her father.

Directed by Dharmesh Darshan, the film was a box office hit.
